(1) In order to make wise decisions, one needs accurate data. In CNY, one can not make, or ask their local, state, or U.S elected officials and non-profits to make wise decisions, unless one has accurate data and information about all sides of any  issue. We therefore challenge each citizen to make themselves educated as to the actual data, such as census data, unemployment numbers, and poverty figures for different areas in CNY, as well as information and details on programs, and the issues that affect all, in order to come to a fuller understanding of any issue or program and  to see if the current systems and programs are actually meeting the needs of the populace.

American Think Tank, Inc, proposes to establish an interactive connecting point and compilation of data, where a visitor can access information on data and local programs.

(2) In order to foster a return to a government responsive to the needs of Americans, we are in support of the following:
(a) Public financed federal elections for the President, Senators, and Members of the House of Representatives. Only by doing this can we hope to return democracy to the will of the people.  In a book written by the great  grandson of Teddy Roosevelt, his great-grandson and a lawyer, makes this case based on the right of free speech being currently usurped by lobbyists and big businesses, which was not the intent of the founders of the country, who based democracy on the consent of the governed.
(b) The re-examination and redistricting of election districts which removes the unethical gerrymandering done by both parties in the last 10 years to insure that those already in power would stay in power. Re-districting I a more sensible manner will be a second step in returning to a more democratic process
(c) The re-instatement of the Franking Privilege so that small publishers can send a linitd number of magazines to those that request them in order to restore the re-fostering of differing opinions to those that pose alternative thinking to the status quo. Recently, changes have been made which lower the cost of major companies and raise the cost of small publishers, a direct violation of the intent of founders intent to foster and keep alive the rights of free expression by those that have different points of view.

Personal Initiatives

(1) Knowledge Building . We challenge each individual to become more fully knowledgeable about issues and knowledge by suggesting they obtain much more information on any issue before reaching a decision. If you’re counting on sound bites. TV news, and even the local newspapers to give you all the facts you are only putting yourself at the mercy of Big business, Big media, and the thoughts of politicians who are heavily influenced by lobbyists. American Think Tank, Inc suggests you learn more about the depth and breadth of knowledge on issues by watching www.BookTV.org which is on C-Span 2 every weekend, and by scanning many books,  and reading others in depth, at your local book seller such as Borders, Barnes and Noble or your independent bookseller. Yes, some you will want to buy, but others can be scanned for the major points and you can make notes of what is important to you without having to purchase them

(2) Writing. We further challenge you to make notes about what is interesting to you, and for those who have the courage to actually write pieces that can influence others and send them to the paper of other publication.

(3) Lastly, we challenge those individuals that have a small creative or entrepreneurial spark within, to get in touch with that inner longing and spend at least 15 minutes a day pursuing that ambition. American Think Tank Inc’s Courage to Be program provides testing and guidance for those that want to pursue a business or personal ambition but need help along the way.
